ABOUT PARKWAY-ROCKWOOD COMMUNITY ED:

Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership of the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts that provides high-quality programs that enhance the quality of life for residents.

POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Community Ed team, the swim school instructor provides instruction to swimmers in the program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Instruct swimmers in their appropriate skill level.
• Communicate with parents regarding swimmer progress.
• Ensure safety of swimmers being instructed.
• Maintain ongoing communication with the swim school site supervisor.
• Inform site supervisor of pool maintenance or safety issues related to the facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must work well as part of a team and individually.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to access all work locations within and outside the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of swimming techniques and teaching methods preferred.
• Previous teaching and/or coaching experience in swimming preferred.

EQUIPMENT USED:

• Standard office equipment.
• Pool equipment, including kickboards, diving rings, lifejackets, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Within assigned pools within and outside Parkway and Rockwood School District locations.
• While performing duties of this job, employee is regularly required to swim, sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.

Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a self-funded department and is not funded through the district's general operating budget. All positions are contingent upon the ongoing financial viability of the Community Ed program.

Position Type: Temporary

Salary: $17 Per Hour
