Job summary

The City of Bellaire in Bellaire, TX is seeking Police Officers to join a small-city team dedicated to public safety and community service.

Officers will respond to emergencies, conduct investigations, and perform patrols while upholding city values of stewardship, creativity, and camaraderie. Applicants must be 21+, hold or be eligible for a Texas Peace Officer license, and may have college credits or work experience as alternatives.

Qualifications

• Age 21 years or older upon appointment.
• Education/Experience: either 9 college credits with a 3.0+ GPA or 2+ years of work experience.
• Active Basic Peace Officer license (TCOLE) at time of appointment; academy enrollment considered).

Responsibilities

• Maintain public safety and enforce laws.
• Respond to 911 or non-emergency calls; provide basic EMS as appropriate.
• Conduct initial investigations, assess crime scenes, and complete reports.
• Assist with warrants, CID surveillance, and court appearances.
• Perform animal control, jail duties, and manage housing for roaming animals.
• Respond to homeless/mental health calls and refer to appropriate services.

Education

9 hours of college credit with a 3.0+ GPA

Two years of continuous, verifiable work experience
