The City of Pleasanton is seeking Police Officers for the Police Department. You will protect life and property, respond to emergency calls, investigate crimes, and engage with residents to build trust in a safe community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic POST Certificate required at appointment.
• Background check, polygraph, medical and other pre-employment testing may apply.

Responsibilities

• Protect life and property and enforce state and local laws; respond to emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Investigate crimes and incidents; collect and preserve evidence; document facts; follow up as needed.
• Patrol assigned areas by vehicle or on foot; deter crime and identify hazards.
• Investigate traffic incidents; enforce parking and moving violations; direct traffic as needed.
• Provide emergency aid and maintain public peace during gatherings and events; assist the public with service needs.
• Prepare reports; participate in court proceedings; present evidence when required.
• Build positive relationships with community through problem-solving and community-oriented policing.
• Potential for specialized assignments (e.g., Criminal Investigations, Traffic Unit, School Resource Officer, K-9, SWAT, CSI) over time.
