Job summary

The Racine Police Department is seeking qualified recruits to join our team in protecting the City of Racine and surrounding communities. Officers will patrol, respond to incidents, investigate crimes, and engage with the community to promote safety and trust.

Qualifications

• Valid Wisconsin Driver's License is required.
• Citizen of the United States.
• Must be at least 21 years old at graduation from the Police Academy.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 60 college credits within 5 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous patrol in assigned area to detect violators and communicate with residents and businesses.
• Respond to calls for service; resolve disputes through counseling, referral, or peaceful means.
• Maintain peace and security; handle disturbances and civil obedience at events.
• Provide information and promote crime prevention through community programs.
• Investigate traffic incidents; enforce traffic laws and promote safety.
• Conduct preliminary crime investigations; protect scenes and perform follow-ups.
• Make arrests when necessary and issue citations.
• Prepare reports and testify in court as required.
• Maintain reliable attendance.
