Job summary

The City of Racine Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for police officer roles in Racine, Wisconsin. The position involves patrol duties, responding to incidents, enforcing laws, and engaging with the community to promote safety and trust.

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen
• Valid Wisconsin Driver's License or eligible to obtain one
• Be at least 21 years of age at time of graduation from the Police Academy
• High school diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of 60 fully accredited college level credits within 5 years of hire pursuant to LES 2.01(1)(e)

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous preventative patrol in assigned area of the City
• Respond to calls for police service and resolve disputes through counseling or referrals
• Maintain peace and security and manage public disturbances
• Provide information and assistance to the public and promote crime prevention
• Investigate traffic incidents and enforce traffic laws
• Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations and preserve crime scenes
• Make arrests when appropriate and issue citations
• Complete and submit required reports and testify in court
