Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Police Science, Administration of Justice, Public Administration or related field; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• Experience: 10+ years of sworn law enforcement with at least 3 years in command-level role (Lieutenant or higher).
• Certification: POST Management Certificate; ability to obtain POST Executive Certificate after appointment; First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 3 months.
• Licensure: Valid California Class C driver’s license and insurability under City policy.

Responsibilities

• Direct all Police Department operations and set policies, programs, and priorities for public safety.
• Strengthen trust with the community through engagement, open communication and collaborative problem solving.
• Recruit, develop and mentor a diverse, high-performing team; manage budget and staffing.
• Build partnerships with residents, businesses and regional partners; model professionalism and political acumen.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Police Science / Administration of Justice / Public Administration

Master’s degree (strongly preferred)
