Job summary

East Hartford Police Department is seeking an entry-level Police Officer who will engage with the community through proactive policing and teamwork. The role emphasizes integrity, service, and the ability to communicate clearly under pressure while supporting public safety operations.

You will patrol, respond to incidents, and complete written reports. A high school diploma, U.S. citizenship, and a valid CT driver's license are required, along with passing the CPCA exam and obtaining a CHIP card.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years old, and a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Pass the CPCA written examination with a minimum score of 70%.
• Possess a valid Connecticut Driver's License.
• CHIP card current.

Responsibilities

• Patrol an assigned area on foot or in a cruiser.
• Investigate suspicious conditions and enforce laws and ordinances.
• Provide public services including traffic control, information, and rescues.
• Document police services and investigations with written reports.
• Obtain and execute arrest and search warrants and testify in hearings.
• Assist at the complaint desk and dispatch as needed.
• Communicate effectively and maintain composure in emergencies.
