Job summary

The American Red Cross in the United States is seeking a Community Disaster Program Manager to lead disaster volunteer teams, coordinate readiness resources, and mobilize partners across assigned geographic areas to support readiness, response, and recovery efforts.

You will deploy with volunteers for disaster relief operations, supervise and mentor teams, and ensure training, capacity building, and collaboration across services, while meeting the organization’s mission of helping communities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience with building, mobilizing, leading and developing volunteer teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support disaster volunteers who are the primary workforce, and representative of the communities they serve, both culturally and linguistically.
  • Cultivate and develop Disaster Leadership Volunteers to meet specific responsibilities as part of disaster readiness, preparedness, response, and recovery.
  • Initiate and coordinate disaster relief operations in assigned geographic area, or functional activities in the region in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations.
  • Engage volunteers and partners, address gaps in readiness resources, facilities, supplies, and local vendors.
  • Maintain effective collaboration with Volunteer Services and ensure readiness and deployment readiness.

You will work with volunteers to ensure that the communities you serve are ready to respond to disasters.Join us in meeting the needs of continuous disaster response! Regional disaster employees are required to deploy to disaster relief operations outside of their region at a minimum of once a year. Deployments contribute to skill building, career development and exposure to different types of disasters. Allowances may be provided for personal circumstances and local response activity.
