The City of Belvidere, Illinois is seeking a Building Inspector/ Plans Examiner to join its Community Development Department. The Building Inspector reports to the Director of Buildings and is responsible for day-to-day administration of the City’s building codes including new permits, plan reviews, building inspections and code enforcement.
The City of Belvidere is a community of nearly 26,000 residents and more than 600 businesses located along the Interstate 90 corridor in North Central Illinois. It is the county seat for Boone County Illinois and hosts multiple institutional / governmental facilities as well as many diverse industrial residents.
The Building Inspector/Plans Examiner is responsible for building inspections, plan reviews for new construction and remodels, permitting, code administration and enforcement. The position serves, in conjunction with the Director of Buildings, as a Building Official for the City of Belvidere. The successful candidate must work closely and collaboratively with developers, contractors, architects, business owners, and residents to ensure safe and successful development throughout the community.
The salary range is $68,000 to $78,000 per year depending on qualifications. The City of Belvidere offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, life insurance, and an IMRF pension plan.
