Job summary

Jacksonville Area Chamber seeks a CDS Program Supervisor to oversee Community Day Services operations in Illinois. You will supervise DSP staff, coordinate transportation, plan activities, and ensure safety and quality of care.

This role requires strong leadership, supervision experience, and knowledge of DHS regulations; you will work with the Program Director and HR to manage timekeeping, attendance, and staff development.

Qualifications

• One+ years’ experience programming for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.

Job Summary

Oversees daily operations, staff assignments, service provision, quality of care, transportation, and engagement of individuals attending Community Day Services (CDS). Works in cooperation with other CDS management team members. Is supervised and evaluated by the Program Services Director.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Supervises the daily operations of the Community Day Services (CDS) program and issues daily assignments to DSP staff including Life Skills Trainers, Life Skills Trainers/Residential Aide Shared Jobs. When needed, they would supervise employees in the Vocational and Supported Employment Program (SEP) which includes Vocational Trainers, Job Coach, and Job Trainer
• Works cooperatively with CDS Management employees to ensure adequate staff coverage at CDS program.
• Establishes schedules for activities, games, education, and physical exercise. Ensures that staff implement all schedules.
• Leads all DSP staff by example in work ethic, integrity, and professional conduct. Provides leadership and promotes teamwork and cooperation among supervised employees.
• Serves as direct supervisor to staff in the CDS, Vocational and SEP program. Is responsible for managing those employees, including the processing and approval of time sheets/time keeping system in a timely manner, the approval/denial of paid leave time requests, documenting all tardiness and attendance issues, performance evaluations, and terminations.
• Develops, coordinates, and oversees large group and small group activities that promote skill development, socialization, recreation, and community integration.
• Plans, organizes, and supervises community outings that align with participants' individual goals and interests.
• Ensures CDS supplies are maintained, as well as providing all needed materials for DSP to provide active engagement and education for people supported.
• Establishes and continues good rapport with people supported, assuring they are treated with dignity and respect, while ensuring the best interest of those supported is being considered.
• Serves as a resource in times of crisis taking into consideration physical safety, emotional support, medical conditions and advocacy.
• Assures that the health and safety of each program site is maintained in accordance with Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations and/or any other governing entity of Community Day Services.
• Meets regularly with the Program Director and informs them of any significant program or service issues, as needed.
• Ensures all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
• Coordinates transportation schedules, vehicle assignments, driver coverage, and participant routing to ensure safe and timely transportation.
• Completes all annual training, maintains Direct Support Person (DSP) requirements, driver eligibility, and background clearance.
• Attends required meetings, workshops or trainings sessions as requested.
• Is active in the development of skills and positive work performance of staff by promoting teamwork, cooperation among employees supervised, peers, supervisors, and staff of other programs, and by serving as a mentor for new staff.
• Assists with behavior supports and crisis intervention when needed.
• Supervises and makes recommendations to the Program Director and Human Resources Director of staff changes, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations when appropriate.
• Oversees coverage and cleanliness of assigned rooms and/or areas.
• Tracks attendance of people supported.
• Submits accurate information to CDS Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) for all incident reports, behavior tracking data and other documentation as requested.
• Ensures CIRAS Reports are completed appropriately and submitted timely per DHS regulations.
• Will provide on-the-job training to new DSP staff and assist them in completing the required DSP training book.
• Completes various other required documentation, as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• May be required to assist during emergency situations.

Qualifications and Skills

Must have verifiable documentation of education. High school diploma or equivalency. Must meet the requirements of Direct Support Person (DSP). One or more years’ experience programming for individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities and other physical and mental challenges preferred. Must have valid driver’s license and insurable driving record. Prior supervisor experience required.

This is a professional position, which required good verbal and written communication skills. Successful completion of the Short Test of Functional Health Literacy in Adults (S-TOFHLA) test, testing ability to read. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt to the changing needs of the CDS Program is required. Ability to interact and communicate with people supported by our Agency, employees, parents/guardians, State/Federal staff members, and other supervisory/management personnel. Able to appropriately utilize available computer programs and systems required. Knowledge of state regulations, Agency timekeeping system programs, Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), Agency policies, CDS procedures highly valued.

Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation. Successful completion of Essential Functioning Test verifying ability to lift at least seventy-five (75) pounds. May have flexible, varied schedule.

Rate of pay based on education and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $53,500 - $55,250 per year
