MOVE Texas is dedicated to mobilizing, organizing, and empowering young people to participate in democracy. Since its founding in 2013, MOVE Texas has grown statewide to become a leading voter registration and civic engagement organization for young people in Texas. Our vision is to build the political power of young people to transform democracy and create space for the changes we need so that all Texans can thrive.
MOVE Texas is searching for 30 young leaders to develop into Community Captains—with the goal of having 15 in both Webb and Bexar County areas. Community Captains are grassroots volunteer leaders who help mobilize their communities around civic engagement. Building relationships with young people and infrequent voters, bringing new volunteers into organizing work, and hosting community events that encourage participation in civic life are essential responsibilities of a Community Captain. Working closely with Campaign Organizers, Community Captains help grow local leadership and strengthen organizing efforts in targeted neighborhoods, campuses, and communities.
This is a volunteer grant-funded role and is contingent upon the continued availability of grant funds. This position may be terminated if the grant funding is discontinued or expires.
MOVE Texas Action Fund 501(c)4 is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, and disability, or other legally protected status.
