SOWEGA Rising, Inc. is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization serving Southwest Georgians. We seek motivated, community-minded individuals to serve as Community Canvassers, engaging residents in civic participation and voter registration.

Canvassers conduct field outreach, distribute materials, and represent the organization at community events. This is a part-time, temporary W-2 position. Pay is $20.00 per hour, with 20–25 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage comfortably with diverse community members.
• Ability to walk for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to report to canvassing locations on time.
• Commitment to community engagement, civic participation, or social justice is a plus.
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
• Must comply with nonpartisan policy throughout the term of employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct door-to-door canvassing to engage residents on civic issues and voter registration.
• Attend and participate in community events and outreach activities as directed.
• Distribute flyers and informational resources to community members.
• Engage residents in respectful, nonpartisan conversations about voting and registration.
• Conduct virtual outreach including phone banking and text banking.
