Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration in Indianapolis is seeking a full-time Peer Specialist to join a rehabilitation-focused, interdisciplinary team. You will draw on your recovery experience to coach Veterans in self-management, goal setting, and personal wellness.

Based in the community, you will provide peer support in settings such as veterans' homes and outreach programs, accompany Veterans to appointments, and participate in trainings, with a Monday–Friday schedule 08:00–16:30.

Qualifications

• Competencies in problem solving and communication.
• Ability to teach others and share recovery strategies.
• Experience in volunteer work or service programs is valued.

Responsibilities

• Act as an interdisciplinary team member in a rehabilitation program.
• Help Veterans articulate recovery goals and practice new skills.
• Provide crisis intervention and timely documentation to the treatment team.
• Assist Veterans with transportation and appointment coordination as needed.
