The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at thePerelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seekscandidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenureacademic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specificarea of Community-based primary care and academic medicine.Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Applicants mustbe Board Certified in Family Medicine. Fellowship training or aCertificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) is not required.
Teaching responsibilities may include participation in theeducation of Family Medicine residents and medical students.Supervision and precepting of learners in both community andacademic settings. Engagement with interdisciplinary learner teamsacross clinical environments. Teaching is a valued component ofthis position.
Clinical responsibilities may include partial clinical effort inoutpatient primary care at an FQHC or community health center.Additional non-continuity clinical work in an academic FamilyMedicine setting, which may include outpatient acute care andprecepting and/or attending on the Family Medicine inpatientteaching service. Experience with comprehensive primary care forpatients of all ages, including prenatal care services, is desired.Candidates interested in inpatient hospital medicine have theopportunity to incorporate this into their clinical effort, thoughit is not a required component of the position. This full-timeclinical role spans both community and academic settings.
The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health hasestablished partnerships with multiple Federally Qualified HealthCenters (FQHCs) in West Philadelphia, providing physician serviceswith the goal of reducing health care disparities and improvingaccess to care for underserved communities. The Department isexpanding its physician presence at an existing FQHC partnerlocation and seeks a motivated candidate who is committed topracticing in this setting.
This is a unique hybrid position that combines community-basedprimary care at an FQHC with clinical and teaching responsibilitiesin an academic Family Medicine setting.
