Responsibilities

About the job Communications Specialist - CS2061

We are seeking a professional, organized, and creative Communications Specialist to join our team on a full-time contract basis. The Communications Specialist will support the development and execution of clear, consistent, and engaging communications across internal and external channels.

This role will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to develop content, coordinate communication initiatives, manage messaging, and ensure information is delivered accurately and effectively to the appropriate audiences. The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer and communicator with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, write, edit, and distribute internal and external communications.
  • Create employee announcements, newsletters, email communications, presentations, talking points, and informational materials.
  • Support communication strategies that align with organizational goals, priorities, and brand standards.
  • Collaborate with leadership and internal departments to gather information and develop accurate, audience-focused messaging.
  • Translate complex business or technical information into clear and engaging content.
  • Manage communication schedules, content calendars, deadlines, and distribution activities.
  • Support executive and leadership communications, including announcements, presentations, briefing materials, and talking points.
  • Develop content for websites, intranet platforms, newsletters, email campaigns, and other digital communication channels.
  • Assist with internal communications designed to improve employee engagement, awareness, and organizational alignment.
  • Coordinate communications for company initiatives, projects, events, programs, and organizational changes.
  • Review and proofread communications to ensure accuracy, consistency, grammar, tone, and clarity.
  • Maintain communication templates, content libraries, contact lists, and related documentation.
  • Work with marketing, design, human resources, operations, and other teams to coordinate communication efforts.
  • Monitor communication effectiveness and gather feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support change-management and organizational communications initiatives.
  • Conduct research to support communication planning, content development, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure communications follow company policies, brand guidelines, confidentiality requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Prepare communication reports, presentations, summaries, and recommendations for leadership.
  • Manage multiple communication projects while maintaining quality, consistency, and deadlines.
  • Stay current with communications trends, digital platforms, content strategies, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in communications, corporate communications, public relations, marketing communications, content development, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proofreading, editing, research, and content-development abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with different audiences and organizational levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent messaging and tone.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience developing professional emails, newsletters, presentations, announcements, reports, and digital content.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with collaboration platforms, content-management systems, intranet tools, email marketing platforms, or social media is a plus.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or comparable content and design tools is preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential, sensitive, and time-critical information with professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting employee engagement, change communications, or corporate communication initiatives is an advantage.

Annual Contract Rate: $85,000 – $115,000 per year, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibility.

Employment Type: Full-time Contract.

Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Contract Term: Initial contract assignment with potential for extension or renewal based on business needs, project requirements, and performance.

Work Arrangement: Remote.
