Job description

Freyja Foundation is an international private, charitable organization dedicated to developing and supporting innovative, scalable, and lasting conservation solutions that protect wild places and combat the climate crisis. Our work integrates protecting existing at-threat carbon sinks, re-establishing biodiversity, and empowering local communities across Latin America.

II. ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Communications Specialist to support Freyja Foundation and our growing network of projects across Latin America. This is a full-time, remote role, based anywhere in Latin America. The Communications Specialist will work closely with the Communications Manager and Director of Communications & Policy. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

WEBSITE, NEWSLETTER, & SOCIAL MEDIA
  • Write and edit blog posts on a variety of topics; support website updates and edits
  • Assist with drafting, formatting, and distributing organizational newsletters; help manage newsletter subscriber segments and develop campaigns to grow subscriber base
  • Contribute to social media content calendars and post drafting
  • Translate content between Spanish and English
INSTITUTIONAL MATERIALS & BRANDING
  • Support creation and updates of presentations and other internal and external materials
  • Research and help order branded materials for internal use and external partners
ADMINISTRATION & CONTENT MANAGEMENT
  • Organize shared drives, document storage, and digital media libraries
  • Assist with photo and video cataloging and management
  • Support tracking and reporting of communications and grantee program metrics
  • Support expense tracking and budget management for communications projects
MEDIA, PR & OUTREACH
  • Research events, publications, partners, and podcasts that could be strategic for engagement for Freyja Foundation and our grantees
  • Assist in planning outreach and communications campaigns
  • Support logistics and content planning for photography, videography, and influencer trips to our project areas
III. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Open to recent graduates and young professionals (0-3 years of experience)
  • Strong writing and editing skills; design skills are a plus but not required
  • Interest in communications, marketing, international projects, and mission-driven work
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Organized, proactive, detail-oriented and eager to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Responsible and able to work both in teams and independently
  • Remote role based in Latin America (flexible on country but based in or prior experience in project geographies of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, or Uruguay preferred)
  • Prior experience in a conservation, philanthropic, or public sector organization is a plus but not required
