Job summary

Interstates is hiring a Communications Specialist based in Sioux Falls, SD or Sioux Center, IA to translate business priorities into clear, audience-focused communications. You will drive employee awareness, understanding, and alignment through internal channels and best practices.

The role focuses on collaboration, storytelling, and helping teams succeed by developing and executing comprehensive communication plans, supporting leaders, and managing content calendars across functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or Associate’s Degree with 3–5 years of equivalent work experience.
• Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills.
• Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, HR, or a Business-related field.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with assigned stakeholders to understand business objectives, initiatives, and communication needs.
• Develop and execute communication plans for organizational initiatives, programs, and projects, including messaging, channel selection, timing, and stakeholder coordination.
• Support leaders in effectively communicating priorities, initiatives, and organizational updates.
• Translate complex information into clear, audience-focused communications that support employee awareness, understanding, and engagement.
• Develop and manage content for internal communication channels and platforms, ensuring communications are accurate, engaging, and aligned with organizational priorities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to effectively manage communication timelines, deliverables, channels, and content calendars.
• Measure impact of communication activities and provide regular reporting.
• Support employee engagement and communication efforts for assigned business functions.
