Job summary

The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) within the DMVA seeks a Senior Communications Representative to manage external and internal websites, social media, and digital publications. You will plan and conduct public relations programs to raise awareness of MVAA services and support brand development and dissemination of agency messages.

You will work with the strategic communication team to develop and write messages, maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence for the agency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the specified fields is required.
• Three years of professional experience in preparing and disseminating informational and promotional materials, including one year at the Communications Representative P11 level.

This position functions as a resource for public relations and digital media in the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency within the DMVA. The Senior Communications Representative manages the agency’s external and internal websites, social media and digital publications, and plans and conducts various public relations programs. Works to generate news and awareness of MVAA programs and services. Works with strategic communication team to develop, write and disseminate agency messages and supports brand development and awareness. Assesses public attitudes and reviews the suitability of departmental presentations to community groups and internal audiences. Maintains records, prepares reports and correspondence for the agency. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, broadcasting, telecommunications, advertising, communication arts, public relations or a related field.

Experience

Three years of professional experience in preparing and disseminating informational and promotional materials equivalent to a Communications Representative, including one year equivalent to a Communications Representative P11.
