Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Communications Network Engineer Senior to design, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise LAN/WAN environments in Norfolk, VA or Washington, DC. The Senior Engineer will optimize performance, lead migrations and upgrades, and coordinate with multiple teams to ensure availability and secure operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in IT, CS, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience administering & supporting enterprise network environments.
• Hands-on experience with LAN/WAN and large-scale networks.
• Strong experience with Cisco routers and switches.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, VLANs, and network architecture principles.
• Active Secret Clearance.
• CCNA certification or equivalent OEM network support certification.
• IAT II certification.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, BAN, and WAN network environments.
• Configure, monitor, and optimize Cisco network infrastructure including routers, switches, and related devices.
• Analyze network performance, identify connectivity issues, and implement corrective actions for reliability.

This position is on-site in Norfolk, VA or Washington, DC. The Communications Network Engineer Senior will be responsible for designing, administering, troubleshooting, & maintaining enterprise network environments across LAN/BAN/WAN. This role supports large-scale, integrated network environments & requires hands-on expertise with Cisco networking technologies, network performance optimization, system migrations, & enterprise communications infrastructure supporting secure government operations.

Responsibilities of the Communications Network Engineer Senior include:

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, BAN, and WAN network environments supporting mission-critical operations

• Perform network testing, validation, and troubleshooting during deployment and sustainment activities
• Monitor network health and performance utilizing enterprise management and diagnostic tools
• Implement network configurations in accordance with DoD security requirements and operational standards
• Support incident response and outage resolution efforts across geographically dispersed environments
• Maintain detailed network diagrams, configurations, technical documentation, and change management records
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to ensure secure and compliant network operations

Compensation for the SharePoint / Power Platform Developer include:

• Salary Range: $90,000-95,000 depending on experience
