Job summary

HBW Resources seeks a Communications Manager to support Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA). This role will execute member and external communications, social media, advocacy campaigns, presentations, events, and other priority initiatives for CEA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, political science, marketing, public affairs, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in communications, public relations, public affairs, advocacy, journalism, political communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, verbal communication, and proofreading skills, with the ability to write for varied audiences and formats.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and edit press releases, statements, op-eds, talking points, fact sheets, newsletters, briefing materials, and website content.
  • Translate complex energy, infrastructure, regulatory, and public policy issues into accessible content for consumers, policymakers, media, businesses, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop member updates and materials for meetings, conferences, webinars, events, and other engagement opportunities.
  • Manage CEA membership database and provide monthly analytics reports.

Communications Manager - Consumer Energy Alliance

HBW Resources is seeking a Communications Manager dedicated to supporting Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA). This role will execute member and external communications, social media, advocacy campaigns, presentations, events, and other priority initiatives for CEA. The ideal candidate is a strong writer who can translate complex energy and policy issues into clear, compelling content while managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • External & Member Communications
  • Support CEA's communications strategy, editorial calendar, and day-to-day communications needs.
  • Draft and edit press releases, statements, op-eds, talking points, fact sheets, newsletters, briefing materials, and website content.
  • Translate complex energy, infrastructure, regulatory, and public policy issues into accessible content for consumers, policymakers, media, businesses, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop member updates and materials for meetings, conferences, webinars, events, and other engagement opportunities.
  • Social Media & Digital Content
  • Manage and grow CEA's social media presence and create copy, graphics, short-form content, and campaigns aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Coordinate with HBW's creative and digital teams on graphics, video, email, websites, digital advertising, and other creative assets.
  • Campaigns, Presentations & Project Management
  • Support state, regional, and national communications and public education campaigns across earned, digital, social, stakeholder, and paid channels.
  • Develop campaign messaging, communications plans, toolkits, fact sheets, presentations, and stakeholder materials. Create and edit PowerPoint presentations and executive materials for conferences, member meetings, briefings, interviews, panels, and public appearances.
  • Manage the CEA membership database to include all respective member lists and provide monthly analytics reports.
Preferred Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, political science, marketing, public affairs, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in communications, public relations, public affairs, advocacy, journalism, political communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, verbal communication, and proofreading skills, with the ability to write for varied audiences and formats.
  • Strong PowerPoint, presentation-development, organizational, and project-management skills.
  • Ability to understand complex policy issues, manage competing priorities, take initiative, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, government affairs, trade associations, advocacy, public education campaigns, or earned media.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms, social media management tools, content management systems, analytics, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong writer and communicator with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Organized, collaborative, self-motivated, and interested in public affairs, advocacy, energy, infrastructure, and policy issues.
