Job summary

Snorkel AI is seeking a hands-on, senior communications leader to own external storytelling and media relations. You will craft strategic messages, turn research into compelling angles, and secure coverage across mainstream and trade outlets.

The role reports to the Senior Director of Integrated Marketing and requires strong writing and a proven track record in AI or B2B tech communications. You will partner with Research, Product Marketing, and Content teams to produce coordinated releases,

Qualifications

• 5+ years in communications, PR, journalism, or content roles, in-house or agency.
• A portfolio of placed and published work.
• Exceptional writer capable of executive voice publications and concise pitches.
• Working fluency in AI and B2B technical topics; ability to learn from researchers and engineers.
• Judgment balancing company goals with newsworthiness.
• Existing or fast-forming relationships with tech and business media, influencers.
• Comfort being measured on results, with a habit of tracking and reporting them.

The Marketing team at Snorkel AI powers the engine behind our brand, community, and go-to-market success. We are high-ownership operators who lead independently, align cross-functionally, and deliver results. We partner with Research, Product, Sales, and executive leadership to turn complex AI work into stories the market pays attention to.

About The Role

This is a hands-on, results-measured role. You'll find the angles inside our research, benchmarks, customer work, and executives' points of view and turn it into something that lands. You report to the Senior Director of Integrated Marketing.

Responsibilities

• Own communications. Set and run the comms plan: press, podcasts, awards, and be a facilitator on organic speaking. Own the calendar, the priorities, and the results.
• Find the story. Mine research, benchmark results (e.g., Open Benchmarks Grants, leaderboards), customer wins, and market moments for angles that balance what Snorkel needs to say with what a reporter, host, or judge finds interesting.
• Pitch and place. Secure mainstream and tier-1 trade coverage, podcast appearances, and speaking slots in-house (no agency).
• Write and find the right stories. Collaborate with Research, Product Marketing, and Content to turn insights into a coordinated package: release, byline, data cut, social, podcast talk track.
• Awards and speaking. Manage awards pipeline/submissions and organic speaking proposal calendar.

About You

You're a strategic writer who happens to be great at PR, or a PR pro who happens to write at a journalist level. You read AI coverage and know all the most influential business podcasts.

Requirements

• 5+ years in communications, PR, journalism, or content roles, in-house or agency
• A portfolio of placed and published work
• Exceptional writer: you can produce a publication-ready byline in an executive's voice and a three-sentence pitch that works
• Working fluency in AI and B2B technical topics and the ability to learn fast from researchers and engineers
• Judgment for balancing company goals with what’s newsworthy
• Existing or fast-forming relationships with tech and business media, influential podcasts, and technical influencers
• Comfort being measured on results, with a habit of tracking and reporting them

Bonus

• Experience with frontier lab, developer tools, data/ML infrastructure, or enterprise AI companies
• Former reporter or editor
• Experience running awards programs and conference CFP submissions
• Experience using AI tools to augment research, drafting, and media monitoring

Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.

Salary range(s) for this role

$190,000—$240,000 USD
