ISW Internship Program Overview

ISW offers in‑person, remote, and hybrid internships for Fall 2026. Candidates should be motivated and experienced college students or recent graduates. Interns work directly with analysts, receive classroom education, and have the opportunity to engage with cutting‑edge technologies and policy development.

ISW believes that ground realities must drive strategy and policy. Interns provide timely open‑source intelligence analysis that informs policymakers and warfighters. The internship offers classroom education, leadership engagement, and the chance to work with advanced technologies while tackling current crises.

Communications Internship

The External Relations Team offers a full‑time internship (five days per week) that may be in‑person, remote, or hybrid, with part‑time consideration on a case‑by‑case basis. Interns support media relations, copyediting, social media monitoring, digital content creation and media research. They will create and edit videos, graphics and written materials, and assist in special projects and social media campaigns across platforms such as X, Bluesky, Threads, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.

Fall 2026 Internship Program Dates

Internships start September 8, 2026 and run until December 11. Interns must be authorized to work in the United States and physically present in the United States during the internship. Students on a U.S. university student visa must obtain CPT authorization before beginning the internship. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until July 24, 2026.

Qualifications
  • Motivated and organized college students or recent graduates with demonstrated proficiency in a related field.
  • Excellent writing, editing and oral communication skills.
  • Experience following a codified style guide such as AP, Chicago or APA.
  • Experience reviewing others’ written work (peer reviews, writing center, copyediting, etc.).
  • Self‑motivated, creative and capable of working in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Competitive candidates should have visual content creation and digital communications experience with social media platforms.
Stipend

Interns are eligible for a monthly stipend of up to $1,000 as part of the scholarship program. The stipend is taxable income.
