Job summary

The City of Maryland Heights is offering a communications internship in the Communications Division. The role works with the Communications Manager on a variety of tasks, with a negotiable schedule that includes some evenings and weekends for events.

The internship requires passing a drug test and background check, and pays $16 per hour for 150–170 hours. Interns will gain experience in writing, photography, graphic design, media relations, event promotion, marketing, and website maintenance,

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled in an associate, undergraduate or graduate program in public relations, journalism, marketing or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist Communications Manager with writing articles for newsletters, social media posts and website content.
• Take and edit photographs; support graphic design and media relations.
• Help plan and promote special events; assist with marketing and website maintenance.
• Support social media management; video production skills are not required but helpful.
