The job is based in our agency headquarters on the north lawn of the Texas State Capitol in Austin. The Communications Coordinator (Information Specialist II-III) performs moderately to highly complex (senior‑level) informational and communications work involving the collection of information to develop, create, and produce content and materials for release to various communications media. This position reports to the Office of the Commissioner Representing the Public. This role involves planning, developing, and implementing a focused and disciplined communications strategy. You will work under general to limited supervision, with limited to moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Primary responsibilities include drafting formal remarks, video scripts, quotes, social media posts, and correspondence, developing and maintaining a communications calendar, developing and maintaining a social media strategy and calendar, and compiling and drafting internal and external communications.
The Office of the Public Commissioner is comprised of a small but dedicated team that collaborates to best prepare the Commissioner for all the legal and policy decisions made in the performance of his role, as well as outreach, stakeholder meetings, speaking engagements, and office management.
