Job summary

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) seeks a highly motivated Communications Coordinator to support external relations in Washington, DC. You will assist the Chief Communications Officer and Director of Strategic Communications with administrative tasks, editorial content, media relations, digital outreach, and events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum one year of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, including editorial judgement.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, initiative, and project management skills.
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and independent self-direction.
  • Strong professional judgement, maturity, and discretion.
  • Proficient in relevant tools and systems, including social media platforms, analytics tools such as Google Analytics, and media databases such as Meltwater and Muck Rack.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Pardot a plus.
  • Strong interest in global affairs and public policy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for the CCO and Director of Strategic Communications as needed, including managing calendar, expense reporting, invoice processing, and budget tracking.
  • Work closely with ER and research department colleagues to support the development and implementation of communications and outreach strategies, including for special initiatives, projects, and campaigns.
  • Plan, execute, and manage ER-led events, and provide logistical and communications support for high-level institutional events, including those hosted by the Office of the CEO.
  • Support the CCO and Director of Strategic Communications in developing and maintaining systems for project management and performance measurement across the Office of External Relations.
  • Draft, edit, and produce communications content, including marketing and promotional materials.
  • Manage external relations internship program including hiring, training, and professional development.
  • Support the Center’s media relations engagement and digital media.
  • Available to work flexible hours as needed around CSIS events and developments in the news cycle.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Job Summary

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 275 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

CSIS seeks a highly motivated Communications Coordinator to help execute the Center’s bipartisan communications and outreach efforts as part of the Office of External Relations (ER). This position will work closely with the Chief Communications Officer (CCO), Director of Strategic Communications, and leadership to provide administrative, project management, editorial, media relations, digital communications, and event management support. Working across all core functions of the CSIS communications operation, the Communications Coordinator will play a critical role in driving the Center's external outreach strategy.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Salary Range : $57,000 USD - $62,000 USD
