Position title: Communications Coordinator

Salary Range: $50,000-65,000
Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart is looking for a professional who will help us share our community’s collective stories and mission. We have been providing young women with a comprehensive and balanced Franciscan education for nearly 150 years. We seek a Communications Coordinator who is passionate about girls' education and aligned with our Franciscan identity.
The Communications Coordinator will develop and execute strategic external and internal communication plans and initiatives. This effort will coordinate the communication needs of all departments, including Head of School, Advancement, and Admissions. These activities will serve to align Sacred Heart’s families, both past and present, prospective families, and alumnae with the school’s mission and activities and create a compelling and positive view of Sacred Heart as the premier all-girls Catholic High School in Western New York. All activities will reflect and be grounded in the Franciscan Charism of our foundresses, the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Activities
- Develop and implement a strategic communications and marketing plan that aligns with Sacred Heart's Franciscan charism and supports strategic goals.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
- Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness of communication channels and initiatives and evaluate efforts on an ongoing basis.
Digital Marketing
- Manage social media channels and email marketing campaigns.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase online engagement and drive traffic to Sacred Heart's website and social media channels.
- Audit all communications tools and channels to make recommendations for most effective use based on strategic goals.
- Contribute to communication campaigns to increase Sacred Heart's visibility and brand awareness.
Content Creation
- Coordinate and lead the production of high-quality, compelling communications and marketing materials, including newsletters, videos, advertisements, social media content, promotional materials, the annual Cordecho magazine, and the Annual Impact Report.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and alumnae to generate compelling content that showcases Sacred Heart's achievements and impact.
- Coordinate photography and videography for school events.
- Work with Advancement to strengthen connections with alumnae, parents, past parents, friends, and grant agencies through targeted communications.
Internal Communications
- Develop and implement internal communication strategies to keep faculty, staff, students, and parents informed and engaged.
- Manage website content with Head of School, directors, and coordinators.
- Produce and distribute regular updates, newsletters, e-newsletters, and other communications to the school community, segmented for constituent groups.
Brand Management
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
- Oversee maintenance and implementation of brand guidelines.
Public Relations
- Build and maintain key relationships with media outlets, community organizations, and other key stakeholders.
- Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials.
- In coordination with the Head of School, serve as a contact for media inquiries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Five+ years of experience in external communications, social media management, or a related field.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, social media, content management, email marketing, SMS, and CRM systems.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategy and execute associated tactics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent proofreading/editing skills.
- Project management experience with the ability to multitask, coordinate team activities, and work to deadlines.
- Strong fiscal responsibility and the ability to develop and follow an annual communications and marketing budget.
- Ability to work outside traditional office hours as needed.
- Respect for and commitment to Sacred Heart's Franciscan Charism.
