Job description

Who We Are :

Reliant is a nondenominational Christian mission organization that partners with churches and nonprofit ministries to help train and equip missionaries throughout the U.S. and internationally. Our office provides excellence-driven, end-to-end employment services accelerating ministry around the world. The team is collectively fueled by the desire to see healthy missionaries living on the field with fully-funded employment for their mission. We are an accredited 501(c)3 evangelical Christian mission agency that began over 30 years ago, and we are honored to partner with over 400 churches and nonprofits. Our field missionaries do various things such as counsel broken relationships, help university students find their spiritual beliefs, pioneer new churches & innovative ministries, and help women make a sustainable living in Kenya — all in the name of Jesus Christ.

Job Summary:

Reliant is seeking a Communications Administrator to join our Central Operations Team. This role carries Reliant's external and internal communications, helping Reliant build new relationships and equip our teams to better serve the ones we have.

The Communications Administrator serves as the primary executor for Reliant's content calendar, working within Reliant's established communications strategy. This role refines it, fills it with the actual content, and gets it out the door on time. Key responsibilities also include running the organization's social media presence and email campaigns, coordinating outsourced design and video projects, helping steward brand voice, and working collaboratively across Program and Process Teams. This role will also take increasing ownership of Reliant's major communications projects and annual rhythms.

The ideal candidate is a Christian with formal training, or equivalent experience, in communications: copy editing, writing for specific audiences with an established voice, content calendars, social, email, and keeping projects on schedule with collaborators who do not report to them. Mature interpersonal skills and strong self-management are expected, along with the judgment to take a clear direction and build something good from it.

Reliant Central is 55+ people supporting over 1200 support-based missionaries worldwide. We prioritize people and relationships to serve our partners, donors, and field staff in the most effective ways possible. Reliant is growing because more churches and ministries need a partner. This role helps us keep growing, and it will grow alongside us.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • External Communications
    • Own execution of Reliant's content calendar: build the schedule, keep it full, and keep it moving
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to build content that empowers ministries while increasing awareness and fostering new relationships
    • Collaborate with Reliant staff and external writers to create targeted content, including articles, by brainstorming topics, assigning authors, and managing deadlines
    • Review and edit all content to align with Reliant's standards for tone, consistency, and professionalism
    • Create, manage, and refine recruitment-focused content collateral
    • Ensure that all growth partners are supplied with proper materials (flyers, PDFs, etc.) to support growth initiatives, work with stakeholders for input, and handle distribution in a remote setting
    • Keep Reliant's public-facing information current
    • Update Reliant's website content as needed
    • Keep Reliant's profiles current across key associations, certifications, and directories
    • Execute and refine Reliant's social media presence & email campaigns
    • Coordinate with external contractors on key growth initiatives including lead magnets and drip campaigns
    • Track and report how content and channels are performing
  • Internal Communications
    • Run the systems and processes behind communication requests across teams, ensuring needs are met and tracked
    • Manage Reliant's internal communications calendar, covering both regular and large-project communication to Central staff and the field
    • Keep Reliant's core communication system and process documentation current, flagging where changes are needed and implementing them with the Advancement Team Lead
    • Administer staff email communication tools (e.g., MailChimp)
    • Monitor the Communications inbox and respond to requests
    • Ensure all internal communications adhere to Reliant's standards for tone, consistency, and professionalism
  • Annual Communications
    • Manage communication efforts for Reliant's recurring annual projects, including the Annual Ministry Report, Open Enrollment insurance communications, Year-End Giving Appeals, staff and field year-end gifts, and Annual Required Education and HR/Benefits updates
    • Collaborate with Process and Program Teams to develop content
    • Coordinate outsourced design and media work, and the vendors behind it
  • Advancement Team Support
    • Attend one to two Advancement team events annually to engage with potential partners and better understand the audiences we write for
    • Seasonally provide administrative support for partnership development, including tracking conference assets, deadlines, and travel logistics
    • Contribute to annual budget planning for communications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
