Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Communication Systems Engineer Modeling & Simulation II to design, simulate, and test space communication systems across the full product lifecycle. You will work with systems, software, RF, electrical, and mechanical teams to optimize architectures and performance.

The role emphasizes modeling-driven design, verification, and continuous improvement of engineering processes, with hands-on analysis and collaboration across disciplines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, electrical or systems engineering with 2–5 years in related fields.
  • Experience with systems modeling, link analysis, performance evaluation and simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with digital communications, RF fundamentals and system integration.
  • Knowledge of engineering processes, documentation and requirements management.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary collaboration and product lifecycle activities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop communications system architectures, interfaces and performance models.
  • Perform system modeling, link analysis, evaluation, simulations and integration.
  • Review requirements, architecture docs and verification results for system implementation.
  • Leverage modeling tools to support architecture trades and new business efforts.

  • Prepare technical docs, interface/control docs, verification reports and change documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, investigations and customer support activities.

We are looking to add a Communication Systems Engineer Modeling & Simulation II to join our team. In this position, you will assist with the design, development, integration, and testing of communications systems supporting products and platforms. This role applies systems engineering principles to develop communications system solutions, improve system performance, and resolve routine communications systems challenges throughout the product lifecycle.

Working cross-functionally with systems, software, RF, electrical, mechanical, integration and test, quality, and program teams, this role supports communications systems engineering efforts from concept development through integration, verification, and production.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the design and development of communications system architectures, interfaces, subsystems, and performance models.
  • Perform system modeling, link analysis, performance evaluation, trade studies, simulation, and system integration activities.
  • Review system requirements, interface specifications, architecture documentation, analytical results, and technical documentation supporting system implementation.
  • Leverage and contribute to a digital modelling and simulation ecosystem of tools to model communication system architecture in the support of architetcure trade studies, new business efforts, and requirement development
  • Identify workflow automation opportunities to establish streamlined, repeatable modeling and simulation processes and enable efficient reuse of established modeling and simulation techniques
  • Perform verification, validation, testing, simulation, integration, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Analyze simulation results, system performance data, test results, and engineering observations to identify trends and recommend solutions.
  • Support root cause investigations, engineering changes, system improvements, defect resolution, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with systems, software, RF, electrical, mechanical, integration and test, quality, and program teams throughout product development.
  • Prepare technical documentation, interface control documentation, verification reports, engineering reports, and engineering change documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical investigations, customer support activities, system integration, and verification activities.
  • Review communications systems engineering methods, modeling practices, requirements management processes, and development activities to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Apply engineering standards, company procedures, customer requirements, and systems engineering best practices throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen system performance, requirements quality, modeling accuracy, and engineering effectiveness.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer engineering, or a related engineering field with 2–5 years of related experience, or Master's degree with 0–3 years of related experience in communications systems engineering, system architecture, RF systems, systems integration, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Working knowledge of communications systems, systems engineering principles, system architecture, requirements development, and interface management.
  • Experience with systems modeling, link analysis, performance evaluation, simulation tools, and engineering analysis methods.
  • Understanding of digital communications, RF fundamentals, networking concepts, signal processing, interface development, and system integration.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes, verification methodologies, engineering documentation, technical standards, and requirements management.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation, product development, configuration management, and multidisciplinary engineering collaboration.
  • Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Engineering analysis and modeling tools, e.g. MATLAB, Simulink, STK, Python, or equivalent applications.
  • Engineering documentation, requirements management, and collaboration tools, e.g. DOORS, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent applications.

$113,000 - $136,000 a year
