Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a front desk/guest services professional to support patient and visitor communities in a full-time in-person capacity. The role involves responding to needs, providing directions, managing emergency calls, and coordinating transportation and paging as part of the Patient Experience team.

The position requires a high school diploma, one year of switchboard or computer experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work 40 hours weekly on a Mon–Fri schedule

Qualifications

  • Must have good communication and customer service skills.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to operate a switchboard and computer workstation.
  • Ability to sit and work with monitors and office equipment for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to needs of patients, families, and staff with directions and information.
  • Manage Emergency Response System calls.
  • Coordinate transportation and provide wheelchairs as needed.
  • Maintain clergy parking passes and related duties.
  • Secure information on locations and times of conferences/seminars.
  • Monitor NDNI patient presence as required.
  • Monitor fire alarm panels and initiate Code Red procedures as appropriate.
  • Facilitate paging and announcements using the X-Tend system.
  • Identify and address compliance issues with visitors entering the premises.

Schedule Details/Additional Information: Mon - Fri 9 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. EST in person.

Pay Range: $19.80 - $29.70

Major Responsibilities
  • Provides essential services necessary to enhance customer relations by responding to needs and requests of patient’ families, visitors, employees, physicians, and other guests in providing locations and directional information.
  • Responsible for managing and executing Emergency Response System calls.
  • Contacts security to request transportation for guests and staff and provides wheelchairs as needed.
  • Maintains clergy visitation log and distributes clergy parking passes.
  • Securesandsolicitsinformationregardinglocation and times of various conferences/seminars occurring withing the hospital/physician offices.
  • Validatespresenceof NDNI patients.
  • Monitors fire alarm panels, contacts firedepartmentand initiates Code Red procedures asappropriate.
  • Facilitatestaff and medical pagesutilizingX-Tend paging system.Manages pager status codes, announces computer system downtimes, and makes announcements as requested.
  • Identifiesand directs problematic situations toCommunicationServices Coordinator for evaluation and investigation.
  • Identifiesand addresses compliance issues with customers entering the premises, I.E,smokingand cell phone policies, etc.

Education

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Mustpossessgood communicationand customer service skills.
  • Manual dexterity, visualacuityand mental alertness to type andoperateswitchboard and computer workstation.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to use visual acuity to see monitor screen, computerand hard copy materials.
  • Must be able to hear and verbally communicate in person and over the phone or radio.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time (up to 2 hours).
  • Must be able to comprehend and learn operation of various office equipment.
  • Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracicand lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 50-60 pound specific to job evaluation.
  • Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and apply proper body mechanics during the transfers and transport supplies and/or equipment using proper body mechanics.
  • Must be able to lift upto 10 pound specific to job evaluation.
