Job summary

Permasteelisa North America is seeking a Commodity Specialist to lead procurement of goods and services, manage supplier quotes, contracts, onboarding, and vendor relations. You will coordinate with Procurement and Subcontract teams to ensure timely delivery and cost controls.

Proficiency with SAP, BOM programs, and MS Excel is required, with 1–3 years in a production/manufacturing setting. Travel to job sites as needed and a strong emphasis on compliance and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or Associate’s degree in a related area.
• Proficient with SAP and MS Office, especially Excel.
• 1–3 years' experience in a production/manufacturing environment; SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and send RFQs for direct/indirect items and services in coordination with Procurement and Commodity specialists.
• Ensure potential suppliers receive all necessary information to submit quotes.
• Set up new vendors and coordinate onboarding paperwork.
• Expedite, receive, forward, and support evaluation of supplier quotes.
• Review, create, and place Purchase Orders for office supplies and other needs.
• Assist Subcontract Managers with PO coordination and shipping/receiving for subcontract POs.
• Submit PO communications and assist with confirmations.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice/discrepancies.
• Utilize SAP and internal procedures to execute procurement activities.
• Support SAP activities across Purchasing and factory planning.
• Assist Procurement Director and managers as needed.

Commodity Specialist

Salary Range: $62,000.00 To $82,000.00 Annually

Join our Procurement Department as a Commodity Specialist.In this role, you will manage and oversee the acquisition of goods, services, and materials for the organization. Responsibilities to include sourcing suppliers, contract negotiation, vendor management, budget and compliance, and inventory control.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Manufacturing:

Procurement & Purchasing Responsibilities

• Process and send Requests for Quotations (RFQs) for direct/indirect items and services in coordination with Procurement and Commodity specialists.
• Ensure potential suppliers receive all necessary information to submit quotes.
• Set up new vendors and coordinate the completion of required onboarding paperwork.
• Expedite, receive, forward, and support the evaluation of supplier quotes.

Purchase Orders & Administration:

• Review, create, and place Purchase Orders (Pos) for office supplies and other operational needs.
• Assist Subcontract Managers with purchase orders and support shipping/receiving for subcontract Pos.
• Submit PO communications, receive other confirmations, and assist Commodity specialists with reviewing confirmations.
• Expedite dedicated items and services.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice and delivery note discrepancies.

Operational Support & System Responsibilities:

• Utilize SAP and internal procedures to execute all procurement activities
• Support SAP activities across Purchasing, and factory planning.
• Assist the Procurement Director, Production Planning Manager, Lead SAP Specialist, and other designated managers as needed.
• Serve as backup for other Assistant Buyer functions and participate in production planning activities in a mentee capacity.
• Actively participate in company safety initiatives, inspections, training, and policy compliance.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Provide cross-functional support to the EHS department for compliance activities in Mexico.
• Manage the weekly report of facility operational expenses, including utilities, maintenance, supplies, and other general expenses.
• Prepare and submit weekly productivity and production support cost reports.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience / Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred or Associate’s degree in a related area of expertise
• Ability to perform tasks using SAP and internal design/BOM programs. Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel. Must also be familiar with basic office equipment (Email, Fax, Scanner, etc.)
• 1-3 years’ experience in a production/manufacturing environment, experience with SAP preferred
