Job summary

Sonaca North America is seeking a Commodity Manager to lead strategic sourcing, identify and manage supplier relationships, and drive cost reduction across aerospace components. You will collaborate with COE leaders and internal customers to optimize procurement and maintain a reliable supply base.

The role requires 5–7 years in supply chain or procurement, strong negotiation and communication skills, and experience presenting to upper management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, Business Administration, Engineering, related fields, or equivalent business experience.
• 5 to 7 years of experience in a supply chain or procurement function.
• Experience with machined parts, capital equipment, sheet metal and plates, factory supplies, services, etc.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills with suppliers and internal customers.
• Excellent communication skills; experience presenting to upper management for updates and negotiations.
• Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams to meet targets; MS project management tools a plus.

Responsibilities

• Close collaboration with internal customers including Centers of Excellence (COE) Leaders.
• Evaluates and recommends vendors.
• Manages ongoing relationships with suppliers.
• Provides input to strategic decisions affecting the area.
• Provides input into developing the budget.
• Resolve escalated issues arising from operations with other departments.
• Maintain a pipeline of cost reduction projects for assigned commodity.
• Develops, implements, and maintains a commodity inventory strategy supporting the supply chain.
• Evaluates market conditions to maintain inventory levels and control costs.
• Lead activities to establish and maintain a cost-effective, reliable supply base for components.
• Aim for 85%+ base in Long Term Agreements (LTA’s) penetration with suppliers.
• Source all components/material within commodity categories per policies and best practices.
• Due diligence of internal requirements, supplier deep dives, cost analysis, negotiation, qualification.
• Participate in or lead cross-functional teams for new product development and cost reduction.
• Identify and lead projects to reduce material costs in line with corporate goals.
• Make/buy analysis, alternative sourcing, productivity improvements with suppliers.
• Lead suppliers rate readiness to meet performance objectives.
• Continuously develop technical knowledge, skills and abilities.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Commodity Manager. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Sourcing, the Commodity Manager is responsible for the procurement of products and services as assigned by the organization. The successful candidate will lead the strategic planning and execution required in identifying, selecting, and managing continued relationships with vendors to meet business objectives related to supplier quality, delivery, and cost.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops, implements, and maintains a commodity inventory strategy that supports a company's supply chain.
• Evaluates market conditions to maintain inventory levels and control costs.
• Lead the activities to establish and maintain a cost-effective, reliable supply base for components necessary to build high quality aerospace components.
• Focus on maintaining or exceeding an 85%+ base in Long Term Agreements (LTA’s) penetration rate with suppliers.
• Source all components/material within your commodity categories following Sonaca North America’s policies and best practices.
• This will involve due diligence of requirements internally, deep dives with suppliers, cost analysis, negotiation, and the execution of supplier and part qualification.
• Participate in or lead cross-functional teams in support of new product development, cost reduction projects, new process development or process improvements, etc.
• Identify and lead projects to reduce material costs to align with business goals to the corporation.
• This could involve make/buy analysis, alternative sourcing, productivity improvements with the suppliers, etc.
• Leads suppliers rate readiness activities to ensure performance objectives are met for the organization.
• Continuously work to develop technical knowledge, skills and abilities

Travel Required Yes, 25% travel to suppliers/stakeholders

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES

Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, Business Administration, Engineering, related fields, or equivalent business experience. 5 to 7 years of experience in a supply chain or procurement function. machined parts, capital equipment, sheet metal and plates, factory supplies, services, etc. Demonstrated negotiation skills with suppliers and internal customers.
