Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks a skilled purchasing professional for exterior glass materials, including windshields and related components, to drive the CBP strategy and supplier negotiations. You will work with cross-functional teams regionally and globally to meet targets and optimize costs.

Requirements include a relevant bachelor's degree and 2–3+ years in glass purchasing (or 5+ years automotive purchasing). Hybrid work in Dearborn, MI, is available, with onsite days four days per week.

• 2-3+ years of purchasing experience focused on Glass commodity or 5+ years in automotive purchasing.
• Experience with glass, electrical, mechanical or physical components.
• Ability to work onsite 4 days per week in the Dearborn, MI area for a hybrid model.

Responsibilities

• Know exterior glass commodity parts and cost drivers to meet targets.
• Develop and execute the glass CBP strategy.
• Foster supplier partnerships and lead negotiations.
• Collaborate cross-functionally regionally or globally.
• Quote, negotiate and source suppliers for production parts and tooling.
• Establish sourcing strategy for exterior glass (windshields, backlites, roof glass).
• Resolve cost, quality, and delivery issues affecting supply.
• Support buyers and cross-functional partners to implement solutions.
• Identify and implement cost reductions and cost avoidances.

What You’ll Do...

• Know the exterior glass commodity parts and understand cost drivers to deliver cost targets
• Develop, maintain, and execute the glass Commodity Business Plan (CBP) strategy
• Foster professional and healthy supplier partnerships
• Lead, plan, develop, and implement supplier commercial negotiations
• Work effectively with cross-functional teams regionally and/or globally
• Quote, negotiate and source suppliers for the purchase price of production parts, and tooling
• Complete sourcing activities and recommend suppliers for new program lamps
• Establish and implement sourcing strategy for exterior glass (i.e., windshields, backlites, roof glass, etc.)
• Assist in the resolution of cost, quality, and delivery issues affecting the supply
• Support GCT Buyers in both Service and Production and cross-functional partners to develop strategies and implement solutions
• Identify and implement cost reductions
• Negotiate cost avoidances for suppliers requesting cost increases.

You’ll have...

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering or related field of study
• 2-3+ years of purchasing experience focused on Glass commodity or 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, and/or sourcing experience with general automotive purchasing
• Previous Purchasing experience with glass, electrical, mechanical, or physical components
• Ability to work onsite 4-days per week in the Dearborn, MI area for a hybrid model

• Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering or related field of study
• 5+ years of purchasing experience focused on Glass commodity
• Human Center Design Thinking
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and analyze data to enable operational decision-making
• Ability to conduct sourcing evaluations / business case studies and present clear recommendations to leadership
• Ability to build network relationships with cross-functional skill teams (PD, STA, finance, and OGC)
• Project management skills and process discipline

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
