Job summary

Position: Commodity Buyer Metals

Reports to

Regional Purchasing Director

• Purpose of the RoleThe Commodity Buyer is responsible for managing the purchasing activities of metal commodities across multiple plants (Cadillac, MI and two sites in Mexico).
• Key Responsibilities- Execute purchasing activities for metal commodities (steel, aluminum, stamping, forging).
• Manage supplier relationships, including daily communication and issue resolution.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery conditions within corporate guidelines.
• Ensure timely supply to support production needs in the assigned plants.
• Monitor supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery) and expedite issues when necessary.
• Support cost reduction initiatives and implement improvement actions.
• Apply company purchasing processes and compliance rules.
• Collaborate with internal departments (Quality, Logistics, Finance, Projects) to ensure smooth operations.
