Job summary

CIBC US is seeking a motivated candidate to join our Commodities Trading team in New York. You will support trading desk operations, develop analytics, automate processes with Python and VBA, and help manage risk across energy, metals, agriculture, and index products.

With 0-2 years of quantitative experience and proficiency in Python, you will learn the markets, engage clients, and contribute to expanding product onboarding. We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline.
• 0-2 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Strong proficiency in Python or high-level proficiency in Python preferred.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.

• Ability to communicate trade ideas and client solutions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Support the commodities trading desk operations and risk management across energy, metals, agriculture, and index products.
• Automate end-of-day, end-of-month, and end-of-year processes using Python and VBA.
• Assist in onboarding new products through established risk assessment workflows.
• Develop trading analytics and strategies using programming and statistical analysis.
• Engage with clients to understand needs and provide forward-looking financial solutions.
• Participate in marketing and outreach to grow the client network.
