Electrical Commissioning Technician 1

This entry‑level role assists in basic testing, maintenance, and installation of electrical equipment under close supervision. It supports more experienced technicians while gaining foundational knowledge and skills necessary for progression.

Responsibilities

• Assist in testing and maintenance of site/field equipment.
• Support the installation, rearrangement, and removal of equipment and associated wiring.
• Perform basic testing, movement, and adjustments of equipment.
• Assist in field construction inspection to ensure compliance with NETA specifications and plans.
• Maintain records and report inspection activities.
• Understand and apply basic knowledge of mathematics, engineering measuring devices, and safety procedures (including LOTO).
• Prep equipment for testing as directed by the commissioning lead.
• Assist in the operation of load banks and equipment with proper PPE.
• Participate in Operational Risk Management meetings (ORMs).

Qualifications

Physical Abilities

• The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance.
• Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
• Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
• Possess good vision (may be corrected), including the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
• May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
