Job summary

The Haskell Company is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to oversee installation, testing, and operation of MEP systems on mission-critical projects. You will mentor staff, ensure quality, safety, and timely document submission while supporting client needs on site.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 3–5 years in commissioning, and are prepared for extensive travel to deliver project success and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; 3–5 years in commissioning preferred.
  • Experience with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing commissioning is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specifications, sequences of operations, and product data to validate readiness for commissioning tests.
  • Assist schedule development with Commissioning, Project, Construction managers, and subcontractors.
  • Review NETA testing documentation and SCCS submittals for safety and compliance.
  • Manage schedule integration and planning of energization and startup activities.
  • Lead commissioning meetings with subcontractors to ensure proper sequence and turnover.
  • Track commissioning issues and ensure timely closure.
  • Mentor and lead Cx Tech I staff on projects.
  • Serve as key field coordination contact for client needs.
  • Verify all deliverables, inspection checklists, documentation, and observation closure to meet design requirements.
  • Escalate deficiencies impacting project deliverables.
  • Travel up to 80%.

In this role, you will ensure all MEP systems, equipment, components, and structures are installed, tested, and operate according to project specifications, product data sheets, industry standards, and best practices. You will also mentor and train new staff and technicians assigned to the project while maintaining high emphasis on quality, safety, timeliness of document submission, and delivering customer satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review drawings, specifications, Sequence of Operations, Basis of Design, and submitted product data to validate readiness of system to meet commissioning testing requirements.
  • Assist schedule development with the Commissioning Managers, Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Subcontractors for their specified disciplines.
  • Review NETA testing documentation and SCCS submittals to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Responsible for schedule integration and planning of energization and L3 startup activities.
  • Run commissioning meetings with subcontractors to ensure proper project sequencing and turnover.
  • Track commissioning issues for timely and efficient closure.
  • Mentor and lead Cx Tech I's.
  • Key contact for field coordination and client needs.
  • Responsible for verification of all deliverables, completed inspection checklists, required documentation, and observation closure to meet the design requirements.
  • Point of escalation for all deficiencies that would inhibit project deliverables.
  • Travel up to 80%
Education & Years of Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering field and 3-5 years of experience in commissioning preferred, or a combination of education and experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of the commissioning processes and procedures for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing.
  • Experience working on Mission Critical projects
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communications and analytical skills.

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
