Job summary

Carter Machinery in San Jose, CA is seeking a Commissioning Manager to lead field start-up activities for generator sets, transfer switches, and related equipment. You’ll supervise installation, start-up, and testing, coordinate with CMCo technicians, and act as liaison to customers to ensure on-time, quality start-ups.

The role requires a minimum of three years in construction management, strong scheduling, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Three years’ experience in construction management (required).
• Experience managing installation of mechanical/electrical equipment (preferred).
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Detail oriented with good time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review project specifications and prepare work plans for equipment start-up within the planned timeframe.
• Create project timelines using Gantt, PERT, or similar methods to outline milestones for start-ups.
• Coordinate delivery of equipment to job sites and ensure proper installation or safe storage to prevent damage.
• Document status of job sites and generate customer progress reports with photos, highlighting incomplete or damaged items.
• Submit status reports to customers on a weekly basis or more frequently as needed; report to CMCo Project Manager.
