Job summary

Praetorian Power Protection LLC, a leader in NETA testing and staff augmentation for mission-critical facilities, seeks a Commissioning Engineer with electrical experience for our Reno, NV site. This role covers the full lifecycle from design review to IST and handover, ensuring systems meet design intent.

You will conduct Level 1–5 commissioning for UPS, switchgear, generators and more, develop tests, troubleshoot faults, review diagrams, and uphold safety standards on-site.

Qualifications

• Experience in commissioning critical electrical systems.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E and LOTO procedures.
• Ability to review drawings and submittals for OPR compliance.

Responsibilities

• Execute Level 1–5 commissioning for UPS, switchgear, generators, ATS/STS, and PDUs.
• Develop and review commissioning plans, FPTs and IST scripts.
• Identify and resolve electrical faults during startup.
• Analyze one-line diagrams, schematics and submittals for OPR.
• Enforce NFPA 70E and LOTO on-site for safety.
• Coordinate with owners, contractors and vendors to meet milestones.

This role is critical to ensuring the successful commissioning of electrical systems for our projects. In This Position You Will

Ensure that mission-critical electrical systems are installed, tested, and functioning according to the design intent. This role spans the entire project lifecycle—from design review and factory testing to final integrated systems testing (IST) and facility handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Testing & Validation: Execute Level 1–5 commissioning for critical systems, including UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies), MV/LV Switchgear, Generators, ATS/STS, and PDUs.
• Documentation: Develop and review commissioning plans, Functional Performance Tests (FPT), and Integrated System Testing (IST) scripts.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Identify, document, and resolve complex electrical faults and design discrepancies during the startup phase.
• Design Review: Analyze one-line diagrams, schematics, and submittals to ensure compliance with owner project requirements (OPR).
• Safety Leadership: Enforce strict adherence to NFPA 70E and LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures on-site.
• Client Coordination: Act as a technical liaison between owners, contractors, and vendors to ensure project milestones are met safely.
