Commissioning Engineers – Electrical Power Systems

About the Role:
You will lead technical assignments involving power systems studies, electrical safety, and system performance while helping build and develop an engineering team. Working closely with facilities, operations, and project teams, you will support safe, compliant, and cost‑effective electrical infrastructure.
Security clearance:
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance are required. Selected applicants will undergo a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Professional registration:
A current Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- -Build, develop, and lead an engineering team while remaining actively involved in technical delivery.
- -Conduct arc flash hazard assessments in accordance with IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E.
- -Perform short‑circuit, protective device coordination, and load flow studies.
- -Develop and maintain electrical system models using software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or EasyPower.
- -Gather and evaluate facility electrical data, including single‑line diagrams, equipment ratings, and protective device settings.
- -Prepare and update electrical single‑line diagrams.
- -Produce and review technical reports covering arc flash hazards, incident energy calculations, and recommended personal protective equipment.
- -Provide guidance to clients and project teams on electrical safety, compliance, and risk reduction.
- -Coordinate with field technicians, safety professionals, and project managers to support accurate data collection and successful project delivery.
- -Develop and deliver training on electrical safety and arc flash awareness.
- -Prepare engineering scopes of work, pricing, and proposals.
Qualifications and Experience:
- -Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- -At least seven years of relevant electrical engineering experience, including leadership responsibilities and work involving existing buildings and infrastructure.
- -Current PE license.
- -U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- -Knowledge of electrical power and distribution systems, including primary power, lighting, fire, security, and control systems.
- -Experience interpreting electrical drawings, coordinating with utilities, and evaluating protective relaying schemes.
- -Experience conducting arc flash assessments and preparing or reviewing reports using relevant analysis software.
- -Strong understanding of current electrical engineering principles and practices.
- -Knowledge of NFPA 70E, applicable OSHA requirements, and the National Electrical Code.
- -Experience working on or around energized industrial electrical equipment, including appropriate use of protective equipment and safe working practices.
- -Experience developing engineering estimates and proposals.
