Job summary

Wizards of the Coast in Renton, WA is seeking an accomplished illustrator/art director to lead the acquisition and direction of artwork for Dungeons & Dragons publishing schedules. You will source freelancers, provide ongoing art direction, and ensure high-quality visuals aligned with brand standards.

You will collaborate with department leaders, present updates to leadership, and help shape creative initiatives across print, digital, and marketing platforms.

Qualifications

  • 2+ yrs commercial art experience.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong creative vision with a cinematic lens.
  • Strong communication skills and capable of giving and receiving feedback.
  • High attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Deep knowledge of current fantasy illustration market/talent and modern print/press techniques and processes.
  • Have an interest in discovering diverse, emerging artists.
  • Adept in Adobe Photoshop, proficient MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Commission a high volume of artwork by identifying freelance illustrators, providing ongoing art direction, maintaining strong partner relationships, and delivering regular status updates to the Lead Art Director and Producer.
  • Apply a strong eye for detail and a solid understanding of artistic fundamentals to source and deliver high-quality artwork aligned with Dungeons & Dragons publishing schedules and brand standards.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and participate in brainstorms focused on future Dungeons & Dragons creative initiatives and workflow/process improvements.
  • Present updates to leadership by showcasing work and clearly contextualizing it within the broader visual strategy.

The pay transparency range for this role is listed below. The hiring range will vary based on factors such as experience, skills, location and market conditions. Additionally, employees may be eligible for annual and long-term incentives as part of their overall compensation package.

Pay Range$109,100—$180,600 USD
