Job summary

Pace Collaborative seeks a Commissioning Agent (CxA) for our Virginia Beach office to support and grow our building commissioning practice. An experienced candidate will manage projects from planning through closeout, while a strong building-systems background is also welcomed with potential growth into a lead role.

The candidate will work with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and construction teams to verify systems operate per Owner’s Requirements and contract documents.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in commissioning, engineering, construction, controls, facilities operations, or related field.
• Experience with operation, testing, or troubleshooting HVAC systems and building automation/energy management systems.
• Familiarity with electrical power and lighting systems; broader plumbing/building systems preferred.
• Understanding of commissioning/retro-commissioning processes.
• Ability to read construction documents, drawings, specifications, and the general construction process.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work independently or with a team.
• Willingness to travel domestically; willingness to obtain commissioning certification if not held.

Responsibilities

• Develop and/or assist in developing commissioning plans, specs, checklists, test procedures, and related documentation.
• Review design documents and equipment submittals from a commissioning perspective.
• Witness and document field commissioning activities, including start-up verification and functional testing.
• Evaluate operation and interaction of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, controls, and other building systems.
• Identify system deficiencies and work with design and construction teams toward resolution.
• Attend commissioning and construction meetings and track action items.
• Review TAB reports and verify system performance; prepare commissioning reports and closeout documents.
• Perform site visits throughout Virginia and surrounding region.
• For experienced candidates, manage commissioning projects and assist with developing the practice.
