We’re hiring a Commissary Manager in Chicago!

Role

The Commissary Manager is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the production, standards, and quality of commissary production. This role will create an efficient work environment and ensure all commissary orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. You will support high operational standards by maintaining checklists, recipe specs, and other standardized tools, lead by example, and hold all team members accountable for their performance and product output, in alignment with our Core Values ("VIBES").

Your core responsibilities

• Communicate the vision of Call Your Mother to managers and teams and ensure that our vision is executed every day.
• Lead and oversee all Commissary operations, including production, distribution, and quality assurance.
• Oversee labor, inventory, and food cost management to ensure profitability, while maintaining high-quality standards and team satisfaction.
• Ensure that all commissaries comply with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, training and development plans, and company policies.
• Analyze KPIs across commissaries to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and ensure that all operational targets are met or exceeded.
• React quickly to financial opportunities related to production cost and labor costs.
• Support leaders to ensure that equipment and facilities are maintained to standards necessary for smooth operations and safe working conditions.
• Identify team members with high potential and ensure that training plans are created and implemented to help develop our future leaders.
• Conduct monthly business reviews with the leadership team to review P&Ls, surface customer insights, areas of improvement, and plans to grow the business.
• Maintain constant feedback loops between all relevant stakeholders to maintain a high level of accuracy, food quality, and communication.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship for direct report managers.
• Be a voice of calm and confidence in high-pressure situations and demonstrate leadership through problem-solving.

Candidate profile

• 4+ years experience as a baker or prep cook in a food production space
• 2+ year experience as a manager in a food production space
• Strong understanding of P&L, COGS, decision making, process improvement, labor/scheduling, training & team development, food quality standards
• Time management skills to deliver quality products on schedule
• ServeSafe Manager’s Food Safety Certification
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food and labor costs while maintaining required standards of operation
• Hospitality-oriented with passion for the guest experience
• Flexibility to manage a schedule that may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and potential overnight shifts
• Outstanding leadership skills and ability to motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to attract, develop, and retain high-performing team members
