Magnolia Bakery, established in 1996 in New York City's West Village, has grown into a globally recognized retail bakery and desserts brand with locations across the US, Middle East, and Southeast Asia. We are seeking a Cake Icer for our Long Island City Commissary.

What is the Role?

Position Summary: Responsible for icing cakes, specialty orders, and wholesale items. Train new and retrain existing cake icers on recipes and standards. Uphold company values, brand integrity, product quality, and customer service.

  • Maintain Magnolia standards including color palette, cake design, and quality.
  • Trim, assemble, ice, fill, and decorate cakes attractively with inscriptions and decorations.
  • Prepare and tint icings and other decorating items for events and orders.
  • Ensure quality control before products are sold.
  • Keep work area clean and equipment sanitized.
  • Follow safe food handling practices and safety procedures for equipment use.
  • Operate and monitor equipment, ensuring proper functioning and safety.
  • Maintain personal icer’s kit and assist in training staff.
  • Organize and enforce proper station setup for shifts.
  • Execute prep tasks from the baker position.
  • Maintain standards and quality of finished products.
Physical Demands
  • Stand and walk for 3-5 hours without rest.
  • Use hands frequently.
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, or crouch.
  • Lift and carry moderate to heavy loads (10+ lbs).
  • Work with hot equipment.
Requirements
  • 40-45 hours/week.
  • 6-12 months cake decorating experience.
  • Knowledge of decorating tools, equipment, and ingredients.
  • Flexible, responsive, with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to handle high stress and volume.
  • Positive attitude, organized, good time management.
