Job summary

Avflight Corporation in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an Airport Catering Specialist to prepare and deliver catering carts and on-board amenities for all scheduled flights. You will drive to aircraft, load and unload, and provide courteous service in a fast-paced airport environment.

This role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, outdoor work in various weather, and strict adherence to FAA and airport safety rules.

General Purpose of Job: This position is responsible for preparing and delivering aircraft catering carts/bins and on-board amenities as needed by the airline for all scheduled flights.Duties:Prepare aircraft catering carts and/or bins with beverages, ice, liquor, snacksDrives truck to the aircraftDeliver stocked catering carts and bins to aircraft and remove empty carts/bins from aircraftResponsible for courteous, prompt, accurate and careful handling of food and goods, including loading and unloadingInventory supplies and complete necessary reports and formsReceive delivery from vendorsAssists with loading and unloading of aircraftClean and service cabin interiors, including cockpit, lavatories, and draining when neededInteracts with airline representatives at the aircraft in a professional mannerCommunicates with customers, vendors and colleagues over the telephone and /or radio for planning purposesProvide excellent customer service to all of our customersEnsures FAA, Airline, and airport regulations are followedEnforces safety/security measures and protects sensitive zonesOther duties as assigned by the base supervisor-Contracted with Allegiant Air and flight benefits are offeredQualifications:Excellent communication skillsAbility to push/pull/lift 50 lbs. for extended periods of timeAbility to read and write English; bilingual skills a plusAbility to work efficiently under time constraintsMust be available to work varied hours including swing and graveyard shifts plus weekends and holidaysMust be 18 years or olderHigh School diploma or GED equivalentMust pass background check, pre-employment drug test and obtain security clearanceMust have authorization to work in the U.S.Must have valid Driver's licenseMust be willing to work outside in all types of weather and elevated noise levels within the airport environmentPhysical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs frequently; must be able to work at heights up to 25 feet or more depending upon the type of aircraft; must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time.
