Job summary

Beacon Inspections is hiring Commercial Vehicle Inspectors on a contract/1099 basis. You will inspect trucks, trailers, and equipment with a flexible daylight schedule, typically Monday–Friday, completing inspections within 48–72 hours.

As an independent contractor, you are paid a flat rate per inspection plus mileage reimbursement. A reliable vehicle, a smartphone or tablet, and a diagnostic scanner or willingness to purchase one are required. ASE certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Detail oriented and organized.
• Access to a newer smartphone or tablet with data plan.
• Proficiency with iOS, Google Chrome, Microsoft.
• Access to a laptop/desktop.
• Heavy-duty truck diagnostic scanner or willingness to purchase one.

Responsibilities

• Flexible Schedule (daylight hours, Mon-Fri), inspections completed in 48-72 hours.
• Schedule appointment with on-site contact provided to inspector.
• Start and move vehicle to position for photos/videos.
• Check diagnostics (scanner/OBD II) and document findings.
• Check for leaks and deficiencies, tire and brake depths, capture 100+ photos and video.

This is a Contract/1099 position. You would be an independent contractor and paid a flat rate fee per inspection + mileage reimbursement.

The ideal candidate will have strong familiarity with trucks, trailers, and equipment. This experience may come from diesel technician or mechanical work, or from hands-on exposure to operating and inspecting heavy vehicles. Candidates with experience in related inspection fields, including auto, home, or insurance inspections, are also encouraged to apply. ASE Certification preferred.

• Reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license
