Job summary

Austin Wood Recycling is seeking experienced Class A Commercial Drivers to safely transport mulch, soil, and aggregates. Drivers may operate various trucks and trailers, maintaining a safe, dependable, and professional attitude when interacting with customers and coworkers.

Responsibilities include pre/post trip inspections, paperwork, and adherence to FMCSA regulations. The role requires long hours (about 60 hours/week) with possible Saturdays, and a competitive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license required.
• Willing to work approximately 60 hours per week, including Saturdays.
• Experience with equipment hauling: tractor trailer, live-floor, end dump, flatbed, and roll-off.
• Forklift/Spyder experience preferred for flatbed operators.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Drug screen required.
• DOT physical required; ability to push/pull ~40 lbs.
• CDL drivers with <1 year experience must provide FMCSA-approved training certificate.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre/post trip inspections and comply with FMCSA hours of service.
• Safely transport product/equipment to/from job locations in accordance with laws.
• Complete basic vehicle maintenance like radiator/filters cleaning and interior cleaning.
• Submit all required paperwork daily.
• Report accidents and injuries as required.
• Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
• Wear safety gear at all times and perform other duties as assigned.
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed by management.

Job Brief

We are looking for experienced Class A Commercial Drivers to safely transport materials such as mulch, soil, and aggregates. Drivers may operate various trucks and trailers and are expected to maintain a safe, dependable, and professional attitude when working with customers and coworkers.

Key Responsibilities

• - Perform pre/post trip inspections, comply with state/federal hours of service requirements, and operate the vehicle in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
• - Safely and efficiently transport product or equipment (if an equipment hauler) as directed to/from job locations and in accordance with all laws, regulations, etc.
• - Complete basic daily service on vehicle to include cleaning radiator/filters and cleaning the vehicle interior.
• - Complete all necessary paperwork correctly and submit daily.
• - Report all accidents and injuries, regardless of severity.
• - Follow all standard operating procedures and processes.
• - Safety gear is required and expected to be worn at all times (safety toe shoes/boots, vest, hard hat, & gloves).
• - Assume other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by management

Qualifications

• - Class A Commercial Drivers License Required.
• - Ability to work +/- 60 hours per week to include Saturdays with overtime (hours not guaranteed)
• - Equipment hauling; tractor trailer, live-floor trailer, end dump, flatbed, and roll-off experience preferred.
• - Forklift/Spyder experience is preferred for flatbed operators.
• - Must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
• - Must pass a drug screen.
• - Must pass a DOT physical. Occasionally be able to push and pull trailer doors weighing approximately 40lbs.
• - CDL drivers with less than one year of CDL experience must provide a copy of an entry-level driver training certificate from an FMCSA-approved driver training school.

Physical Requirements

• - Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
• - Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time and walk for short periods.
• - Must be able to climb into and out of tractor / truck several times per day using 3 points of contact.
• - Must be able to use hand and arms to steer and to finger controls and adjust controls as needed inside and outside of tractor.
• - Must be able to bend, stoop, and crawl in order to perform a full inspection of the truck and trailer (including tire inspection).
• - Must be able to work outside for periods of time in all weather.
• - Must be able to see and hear proficiently to operator a commercial motor vehicle in a safe manner.
• - Must be able to frequently use arms overhead for multiple job functions to include tossing ropes or tie down straps using an overhead motion.
• - Must be able to depress clutch and hold in position for 2 full minutes.
• - Must be able to pull up a rope to 40lbs of resistance using arms only.
• - Must be able to work in a dusty environment (tolerate various types of work dust).
