Job summary

Commercial Tire is seeking a Service Technician in Portland, OR to provide tire-related services in-store and at customer locations. You will mount, dismount, balance, repair tires, and offer roadside assistance while upholding safety and quality standards.

Ideal candidates maintain a valid driver’s license, DOT q-file and medical certification, and a high school diploma (GED acceptable). This is a full-time position with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• DOT Driver Qualification file (q-file) and Medical Certification.
• TIA Certification.
• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
• Minimum age requirement: 18 years.

Responsibilities

• Deliver top-tier service to customers with timely follow-ups, issue resolution, and proactive communication.
• Perform tire-related services (mounting, dismounting, fleet checks, pressure adjustments, and repairs) on-site or at customer locations.
• Respond to after-hours and on-call roadside service requests as scheduled.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections, operate company vehicles, and maintain compliance with DOT and ELD requirements.
• Operate tools and equipment such as impact guns, air compressors, hub-cap hammers, and boom trucks safely and effectively.
• Accurately complete work orders, service tickets, and invoices, while verifying customer credit and making necessary billing adjustments.
• Assist in inventory management by using company software systems (e.g., Toolbox, Basys) including scanning, transferring, and returning items.
• Initiates purchase orders for parts, assists with updating information on the computer and maintains records/files for follow-up.
• Document fleet inspections, casing write-ups, barcode scanning, and all account-required images or forms.
• Maintain vehicle appearance, safety materials, and fuel receipts for company processing.
• Ensure lug nuts are tightened to proper torque specifications.
• Match tire sets correctly, ensuring proper placement and wear alignment.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Commercial Tire Service Technician is responsible for providing tire-related services both in-store and at customer locations. This includes mounting, dismounting, balancing, repairs, and roadside assistance for commercial and light-duty vehicles. This role plays a key part in maintaining customer satisfaction through excellent service, technical accuracy, and adherence to safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver top-tier service to customers through timely follow-ups, issue resolution, and proactive communication.
• Perform all tire-related services (mounting, dismounting, fleet checks, pressure adjustments, and repairs) on-site or at customer locations.
• Respond to after-hours and on-call roadside service requests as scheduled.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections, operate company vehicles, and maintain compliance with DOT and ELD requirements.
• Operate tools and equipment such as impact guns, air compressors, hub-cap hammers, and boom trucks safely and effectively.
• Ability to look up fluid volumes for tire size.
• Accurately complete work orders, service tickets, and invoices, while verifying customer credit and making necessary billing adjustments.
• Assist in inventory management by using company software systems (e.g., Toolbox, Basys) including scanning, transferring, and returning items.
• Initiates purchase orders for parts, assists with updating information on the computer and maintains records/files for follow-up.
• Document fleet inspections, casing write-ups, barcode scanning, and all account-required images or forms.
• How to check a bar code and explain the screen.
• Maintain vehicle appearance, safety materials, and fuel receipts for company processing.
• Ensure lug nuts are tightened to proper torque specifications.
• Match tire sets correctly, ensuring proper placement and wear alignment.
• Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FUNCTIONS

Physical Demands:

• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces
• Frequent lifting/carrying: up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting over 100 lbs
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping and dexterity
• Constant visual, auditory, and verbal communication required
• Frequent exposure to noise, dirt, dust, mechanical vibration, fumes, and outdoor conditions
• Occasional work in extreme heat/cold or wet/humid environments
• Occasional shift work and extended days may be required
• Occasional hazards due to mechanical equipment, moving objects, and roadside work

Equipment Operated:

• Company service vehicles and boom trucks
