Job description

The Commercial Superintendent is responsible for the overall field leadership, coordination, and successful execution of commercial construction projects. This role ensures that projects are built safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Shoreline’s high standards of quality. The Superintendent serves as Shoreline’s on-site representative, fostering strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and design partners while maintaining a professional, safe, and productive jobsite. This position embodies Shoreline’s mission by delivering projects that provide peace of mind through disciplined process management, principled decision-making, and intentional leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Project Execution Provide overall on-site management of construction activities from start to completion.
• Lead, mentor, and direct Assistant Superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors.
• Enforce the project schedule and ensure milestones are achieved through proactive planning and coordination.
• Anticipate and mitigate potential delays or conflicts to maintain project progress.

Quality & Safety Management

• Ensure strict adherence to all safety policies and OSHA 29 CFR 1926 requirements.
• Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and enforce a culture of accountability.
• Conduct regular quality control inspections to confirm work meets contract documents and Shoreline standards.
• Implement corrective actions promptly when quality or safety deviations occur.

Subcontractor & Resource

• Oversight Oversee subcontractor performance to ensure scope, schedule, and quality compliance.
• Coordinate manpower and equipment efficiently, supporting fiscal responsibility in resource use.
• Verify timely material deliveries and maintain accurate tracking of site inventory.

Scheduling & Documentation

• Develop and manage project schedules in Microsoft Project, ensuring alignment with key milestones.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, photos, and site documentation in Procore.
• Track RFIs, submittals, inspections, and progress updates to keep the project team and leadership informed.

Communication & Relationship Management

• Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, and inspectors.
• Facilitate coordination meetings to ensure alignment among all stakeholders.
• Build and sustain intentional relationships that promote collaboration, trust, and client satisfaction.

Fiscal & Process Accountability

• Support the Vice President of Operations in managing budgets, cost tracking, and subcontractor billings.
• Uphold Shoreline’s process-driven approach by following established project management and reporting systems.
• Make principled decisions that protect project integrity, financial stewardship, and team reputation.
