American Air Conditioning & Heating is seeking experienced Commercial Sheet Metal Mechanics / HVAC Duct Installers to join our commercial HVAC team in the San Antonio and Austin areas.

Ideal candidates have duct installation experience, can read mechanical plans, bring their own basic tools, and work reliably with minimal supervision on multiple active projects. Full-time employment with competitive compensation based on experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install commercial HVAC ductwork including rectangular, spiral, round, flex duct, diffusers, grilles, and related accessories.
• Read and understand mechanical plans and duct layouts.
• Properly hang, support, seal, and connect duct systems.
• Take accurate field measurements.
• Make field modifications when necessary.
• Perform basic sheet metal modifications including offsets, doglegs, transitions, and adjustments to existing fittings.
• Coordinate installation with other trades and jobsite conditions.
• Maintain quality workmanship and a clean work area.
• Travel between San Antonio and Austin area projects as required.

Job Description American Air Conditioning & Heating is looking for experienced Commercial Sheet Metal Mechanics / HVAC Duct Installers to join our commercial HVAC team.

We have multiple active projects throughout the San Antonio and Austin areas and are looking for dependable installers who know the trade, have their own basic tools, and can work without constant supervision.

This is not an entry-level position. We need people who understand commercial HVAC duct installation and can look at a set of plans, understand what needs to be installed, and get the work completed correctly.

Responsibilities

• Install commercial HVAC ductwork including rectangular, spiral, round, flex duct, diffusers, grilles, and related accessories.
• Read and understand mechanical plans and duct layouts.
• Properly hang, support, seal, and connect duct systems.
• Take accurate field measurements.
• Make field modifications when necessary.
• Perform basic sheet metal modifications including offsets, doglegs, transitions, and adjustments to existing fittings.
• Coordinate installation with other trades and jobsite conditions.

• Travel between company projects in the San Antonio and Austin areas as required.

Requirements

• Commercial HVAC / sheet metal installation experience.
• Ability to independently install ductwork from plans and field conditions.
• Must have your own basic sheet metal/HVAC hand tools.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Ability to report to different project locations depending on the work schedule.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
• Ability to work safely from ladders, lifts, and elevated work areas.
• Ability to lift and handle commercial ductwork and sheet metal materials.
• Must be able to work effectively as part of a crew while also handling assigned work independently.

Strongly Preferred

• Sheet metal fabrication experience.
• Ability to modify fittings in the field.
• Ability to fabricate offsets, doglegs, transitions, reducers, plenums, and similar fittings.
• Experience laying out sheet metal fittings.
• Experience working from field measurements.
• Experience with commercial RTU, AHU, exhaust, outside-air, and general HVAC duct systems.

Company Description American Air Conditioning & Heating is a locally operated HVAC contractor serving commercial projects throughout the San Antonio and Austin areas. Our commercial team performs HVAC equipment installation, ductwork installation, and related sheet metal work for a variety of construction projects. Through our in-house sheet metal operation, American Metal Werx, we also fabricate custom ductwork and specialty sheet metal pieces as needed to support our field projects. Employees may primarily work in the field installing commercial duct systems, with occasional shop fabrication work depending on experience, workload, and project needs.
