Position Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all field operations while driving productivity, quality, safety, and profitability initiatives across the organization. This leadership role focuses on continuous improvement, operational efficiency, workforce development, and successful project execution within commercial roofing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee commercial roofing production, sheet metal, and service operations while supporting sales efforts and promoting department services
  • Maintain ongoing communication regarding upcoming projects and potential work opportunities
  • Review bids, specifications, purchase orders, contracts, and proposals to ensure scope alignment and compliance with company standards
  • Partner with project management and estimating teams to support successful project planning and execution
  • Lead and direct superintendents and foremen on all phases of project performance including scheduling, production, safety, quality control, and project closeout
  • Coordinate material purchasing, inventory management, equipment utilization, and delivery logistics with warehouse personnel
  • Monitor labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs to improve profitability and reduce budget overruns
  • Identify and communicate project scope changes while ensuring proper change order management and documentation
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture, positive employee relations, teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence
  • Participate in project review meetings and financial performance discussions
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, identify challenges, and collaborate on solutions with field teams and customers
  • Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors throughout all project phases including schedules, submittals, and change orders
  • Address customer concerns and perform field inspections and investigations as needed
  • Perform additional operational and leadership duties as assigned
Operational Goals
  • Evaluate current workforce capabilities, safety practices, productivity, attitude, and overall effectiveness
  • Assess crew structure and recommend improvements focused on quality, efficiency, teamwork, and cost control
  • Implement accountability standards and clear performance expectations for field leadership and crews
  • Develop workforce review processes that provide ongoing feedback related to safety, reliability, quality, attitude, and productivity
  • Establish procedures for managing company vehicles, equipment assignments, and field resources
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of five years of commercial roofing management experience required
  • Strong understanding of commercial roofing systems, materials, installation methods, and operational processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred, but not required
  • Proven leadership, planning, organization, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities
  • Strong communication and team-building skills
  • Ability to manage priorities effectively while maintaining attention to detail and urgency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Local travel required for jobsite visits and customer meetings, with occasional out-of-state travel for training and company initiatives
